Donald M. Kerr, Ph.D.

Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force (Intelligence Space Technology) and Director of the National Reconnaissance Office, 2005-2007

Dr. Kerr is a research professor in George Mason University’s Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering. Previously, he was confirmed by the Senate on October 4th, 2007, as principal deputy director of national intelligence. Prior to his confirmation, Kerr served as the fifteenth director of the National Reconnaissance Office; as deputy director for science and technology at the Central Intelligence Agency; and was an assistant director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  Kerr earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a Master of Science degree in microwave electronics, and a Ph.D. in plasma physics and microwave electronics from Cornell University.
